Miry Whitehill started the nonprofit Miry's List in July 2016 when a friend introduced her to a family of new arrival Syrian refugees resettling in the community with kids the same age as her own. Miry is a mom of two and community activist with ten years experience in the digital marketing industry. She is the co-author with Jennifer Jackson on the forthcoming OUR WORLD IS A FAMILY (Sourcebooks, 2022), which was inspired by her own childrens' role in welcoming the resettling refugee families they met through Miry's work. Miry can typically be found digging in the garden with her kids in their home in Eagle Rock in northeast Los Angeles.
Jennifer Jackson is a community activist whose love of storytelling began with years of working in theater and dance. She is the co-author with Miry Whitefall on the forthcoming OUR WORLD IS A FAMILY (Sourcebooks, 2022). She and Miry connected instantly over Syrian food and the Miry’s List mission. Jennifer is also the author of The Punkydoos Take the Stage (Disney-Hyperion, 2014). She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and son. When she’s not doing homework for her master’s degree, she and her son are dancing in the kitchen and perfecting their blueberry scone.
