Sandra Nickel’s debut picture book, Nacho’s Nachos (illustrated by Oliver Dominguez, Lee & Low) came out to starred reviews and accolades including a Kirkus Best Picture Book of the Year. Sandra has two forthcoming picture books about groundbreaking female scientists: The Stuff Between the Stars (illustrated by Aimee Sicuro) and Breaking Through the Clouds (illustrated by Helena Perez Garcia, both published by Abrams) and a fiction picture book with Lerner. Her poetry can be found in SCOOP magazine. Sandra holds an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts and has presented workshops on writing for children and young adults throughout Europe and the United States. She is the winner of Hunger Mountain‘s Katherine Paterson Prize for picture books for two years running. Sandra lives with her family in Switzerland where she blogs actively about the children’s book community.
